8 Cheap US Destinations to Visit for Spring Break

Spring break is here! And lets admit it most of us don’t have tons of money to blow on a vacation right now. Did you know 47% of Americans will use their tax refund to go on a vacation this year. Instead of spending all that money there are plenty of affordable destinations you can visit and save your money! I’m not saying all of us will be using our tax refund but it be pretty smart to travel to cheap destinations and you’ll have the chance to travel to more places with in the year since you saved money  on this trip.

I put together a list of 8 cheap US destinations you would love to visit during spring break. These destinations aren’t your normal South Beach, Miami or Cancun, Mexico where most spring breakers go. I would say their somewhat “different” from a normal spring break destination. You gotta think outside the box to find a great adventure!

New Orleans

New Orleans is full of culture and great food! If your into the nightlife scene Bourbon Street is full of bars, live music and restaurants. Audubon Natural Institute is one number for best attractions in New Orleans, it has a zoo, a aquarium, a IMAX theater, a golf course and a kid friendly exhibits! There’s also tons of museums and cultural tours to take! And don’t forget to try some gumbo and a po-boy while your there! Hotels can run as low as $55 a night!

Nashville

The music city! Downtown Nashville is beautiful while your there check out the Parthenon replica of the one in Athens, Greece. They have museums for all you music fans like Johnny Cash museum, Ryman Auditorium or the famous Grand Ole Opry. Nashville also has tons of beautiful waterfalls most are about 40 minutes outside of Nashville but definitely  worth it! When it comes to the nightlife your trip instead complete until you walk down Broadway Street. Hotels can run as low as $59 a night!

Myrtle Beach

There are so many activities to do while in Myrtle Beach! Boat cruises, national parks, kayaking, camping, jet ski, surfing and so much more! It’s a great destination for families to visit.Broadway at the beach you can walk down the pier, eat at a resturant, ride the sky wheel and they have games for the kids. They offer plenty of night shows and concerts. Hotels can run as low as $34 a night!

Austin

The capital of Texas, Austin has beautiful nature parks to see! There’s some great architectural buildings to check out too like the State Capitol. Or if your up for something different you can take a tour to watch the largest bat colony fly from underneath a bridge, this bat colony has over 1.5 million bats! Visit the SoCo district to eat some unique foods and some shopping. Check out the HOPE outdoor gallery to see some amazing paintings! Hotels can run as low as $54 a night!

San Antonio

One thing you must do in San Antonio is eat at one of the restaurants  along the river walk and take the boat tour! San Antonio is full of historical buildings, tours are offered for most historical sites. If your taking a family vacation make sure to go to SeaWorld and the Aquatica water park. San Antonio also has a Six Flags for all you roller coaster lovers out there! Hotels can run as low as $40 a night!

San Diego

If you love wildlife San Diego SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo and Safari Park are a must do while visiting here. And of course you gotta visit the beach while there! You can book a boat tour for the day some are as low as $25!  Two natural parks you gotta check out are Sunset Cliffs Natural Park and Torrey Pines Natural Reserve. Hotels run as low as $50 a night!

Savannah

Savannah is the oldest city in Georgia. Visit the historic district to feel the southern charm with tons of restaurant and shopping while looking at the beautiful architect around. Or if your up to it take one of the ghost and vampire tours! You can camp at the Skidaway Island State Park or visit the OatLand Island Wildlife center. Savannah has up to 48 different walking tours, there’s bound to be one for you! Hotels can run as low as $47 a day!

YellowStone

Yellowstone is full of adventure! Beautiful waterfalls, basins, wildlife, rivers and lakes there’s so much you can do! The most popular thing to see is the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. They offer water sports such as river floats, rafting and kayak tours. Make sure to check out the beautiful basins, Upper Geyser, Grand Prismatic and Midway Geyser are popular ones. If your going to see lots of wildlife much sure to go to Hayden Valley where they say that’s the best place to see herds of animals! They have a couple educational/ visitor  centers to check out too. Hotels can run as low as $59 a night!

 

Where are you going for Spring Break?

Even if you don’t plan on traveling this spring break, one of these great places should be on your bucket list to visit! Not only are they cheap to visit but have some exciting things to do and see that will make lots of memories!

  1. Great list of cities to visit! I’m husbands family is coming down to Daytona Florida for a week for their spring break. Pretty sure it’s costing them a fortune 🙁

  3. Savannah, Nashville and New Orleans have been on my bucket list for a while now! I passed through Savannah and Nashville on a couple occasions and they’re both beautiful cities but I didn’t get to do much down there. 🙁
